Position Overview

RiverPeak Health is seeking an experienced, collaborative, and motivated Supply Chain Manager to establish and lead supply chain operations for our new hospital in Riverton, Wyoming. This is a unique opportunity to build a critical hospital function from the ground up and shape the systems, vendor relationships, and processes that will support patient care.

Reporting directly to and working closely with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Supply Chain Manager will oversee purchasing, sourcing, contracting support, inventory management, receiving, distribution, product standardization, vendor relations, and supply chain systems. During the pre-opening phase, this leader will coordinate initial supply and equipment needs, establish inventory and par levels, and develop sustainable workflows for hospital operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Supply Chain Development and Operational Readiness

• Develop and implement RiverPeak Health’s initial supply chain program, including policies, systems, workflows, and processes for purchasing, receiving, storage, distribution, inventory control, and departmental replenishment.

• Lead supply chain readiness for hospital opening by coordinating initial supply and equipment purchases, establishing warehouse inventory and departmental par levels, and ensuring materials are available for go-live.

• Collaborate with clinical, administrative, finance, and information technology leaders to identify operational needs and build sustainable supply chain practices.

2. Strategic Sourcing and Vendor Management

• Serve as RiverPeak Health’s primary operational contact for medical-surgical distributors, manufacturers, service providers, group purchasing organizations, and other supply chain vendors.

• Participate in vendor selection, pricing discussions, contract review, implementation planning, and ongoing monitoring of vendor performance and contract compliance.

• Address backorders, substitutions, pricing discrepancies, delivery concerns, and supply disruptions while identifying alternative sourcing, product-standardization, and cost-saving opportunities.

3. Inventory, Logistics, and Financial Management

• Oversee purchasing, receiving, warehousing, storage, distribution, shipping, and the appropriate handling and availability of medical supplies and equipment.

• Establish and maintain inventory controls, including par levels, reorder points, expiration monitoring, product recalls, emergency reserves, and obsolete inventory reduction.

• Manage the supply chain budget and analyze utilization, inventory, pricing, and purchasing data to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and support accurate records, reporting, and invoice reconciliation.

4. Leadership, Quality, and Compliance

• Serve as a trusted supply chain resource across the organization and recruit, train, supervise, and develop supply chain personnel as operational needs grow.

• Promote teamwork, accountability, responsiveness, service, and continuous improvement throughout supply chain operations.

• Ensure supply chain practices, policies, documentation, and internal controls to support patient and employee safety, infection prevention, regulatory compliance, accreditation requirements, and quality improvement.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or a related field, along with at least three years of progressively responsible experience in supply chain, materials management, purchasing, logistics, inventory management, or related area.

• An equivalent combination of relevant education and professional experience will be considered, including substitution of experience for formal education.

• Previous leadership, supervisory, project management, or program-development experience, including demonstrated success developing, implementing, or improving operational processes.

• Ability to work on site in Riverton, Wyoming.

Preferred

• Healthcare supply chain experience within a hospital, ambulatory surgery center, clinic, or similar clinical environment.

• Experience supporting the opening, expansion, or redesign of healthcare operations, including capital equipment procurement and operational readiness.

• Experience with medical-surgical distribution, inventory or materials management systems, ERP platforms, vendor negotiations, contracting, and strategic sourcing.

• Professional certification such as Certified Materials & Resource Professional, Certified Professional in Supply Management, Certified Supply Chain Professional, or a comparable credential.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Strong knowledge of healthcare supply chain operations, including purchasing, sourcing, inventory management, distribution, logistics, and vendor relations.

• Familiarity with medical and surgical products, healthcare distributors, manufacturers, and group purchasing organizations.

• Sound financial, budgeting, data analysis, and cost-containment skills.

• Ability to build and improve systems, policies, workflows, and operational standards in a startup environment.

• Strong judgment, problem-solving, organization, and project-management abilities.

• Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships across clinical and nonclinical teams.

• Ability to work independently, adapt to changing priorities, and lead with professionalism, accountability, integrity, and a service-oriented mindset.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and supply chain, purchasing, inventory, or enterprise resource planning systems.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in office, hospital, warehouse, receiving, storage, and clinical support environments. The position may require standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting or moving supplies and equipment. Some evening, weekend, holiday, or after-hours availability may be required during hospital opening activities, emergency situations, physical inventories, supply interruptions, or other operational needs.
