We are honored that Dr. Monica Bertagnolli, the newest member of our Board of Trustees, recently shared RiverPeak Health’s story during the Massachusetts Medical Society and 𝘕𝘦𝘸 𝘌𝘯𝘨𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘑𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘔𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘦’𝘴 136th Shattuck Lecture - All Health is Local: Healing Health Care in Rural America. In one of medicine’s most prestigious annual lectures, Dr. Bertagnolli highlighted our community’s determination to bring hospital services back to Fremont County as an example of what can be accomplished through local leadership, strong partnerships, and a shared vision. She described RiverPeak Health as “a model for what community-driven health leadership can achieve,” noting that it is “locally owned, locally governed, and designed around the specific needs of the community.” Raised on her family’s Wyoming ranch, Dr. Bertagnolli has a deep commitment to improving health for rural communities. She is a cancer surgeon who has served as Director of the National Cancer Institute and the National Institutes of Health and now serves as President of the National Academy of Medicine. Dr. Bertagnolli has been a trusted advisor and champion of RiverPeak Health throughout our journey to bring local hospital services back to our community. UPDATED! Integrated Art Group (IAG), on behalf of RiverPeak Health, is pleased to invite local artists to participate in the development of the artwork program for RiverPeak Health’s new healthcare facility serving Riverton and the surrounding communities. As part of this project, we are seeking artwork that reflects the people, landscapes, cultures, histories, and stories that make Fremont County unique. We are particularly interested in artwork that fosters a sense of connection, healing, belonging, and community for patients, visitors, and staff. We welcome submissions from artists working in a variety of media and styles, including painting, photography, mixed media, fiber arts, sculpture, and other visual art forms. Both emerging and established artists are encouraged to participate. RiverPeak Health proudly serves a diverse region, and we welcome artists representing the many voices and traditions of Wyoming. Selected artwork may be considered for display throughout public spaces, waiting areas, corridors, clinical environments, and other locations within the new facility. How exciting to see the RiverPeak Health sign on the building!

A heartfelt thank you to the Riverton Lions Club for their incredibly generous $50,000 donation toward kitchen equipment for our new hospital! Their support is another reminder that this hospital truly is a community effort.

One year ago, many of our supporters and partners signed this beam before it was placed above the hospital’s main entrance. Today, it’s covered by the finished exterior, but the names and messages remain. Thank you to everyone who signed, contributed, encouraged, and believed in this project. Your support is built into this hospital in more ways than one.

Some of our team enjoyed attending the recent Billings Clinic Trustee Conference and bringing home valuable insights to support strong leadership and the future of healthcare in our community.

As the construction of Riverton’s new hospital progresses, RiverPeak Health is beginning to build its founding leadership team. We are excited to announce that applications are now open for three key positions: Chief Financial & Operations Officer (CFOO), Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), and Human Resources Director. We are excited to announce that Sean McCallister will be joining our team as Interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO) beginning June 1, guiding us through the critical phase of opening our new hospital. Sean brings more than 20 years of rural healthcare leadership experience across Wyoming, Alaska, and Idaho. Most recently serving as Interim CEO at Powell Valley Healthcare, he has guided community-owned hospitals through financial turnaround, facility replacement, service expansion, and pandemic response. He is known for building strong teams, strengthening partnerships, and positioning rural hospitals for long-term success. Sean’s message to our community: “I’ve spent my entire life in mountain west states and thoroughly enjoy rural areas for optimal quality of life and the premier way to raise my family. Small towns are the antithesis of the urban rat race with their charm, close-knit feel, and robust community values. My wife and I are passionate about healthy living and love all things outdoors including snow skiing, water skiing, paddle boarding, bike commuting, mountain biking, hiking, camping, and long Sunday walks together.  “Serving in rural healthcare is an absolute privilege and calling for me. Small hospitals are poised to deliver the best care and service compared to their urban counterparts because we’re less complex and bureaucratic and our organizational culture is more intimate. Notably, we literally provide services to our friends, neighbors, and people we see every day at the grocery store, post office, church, etc., which really ups the ante! “I’m beyond excited about RiverPeak Health! Hospitals are the lifeblood of rural communities because they enhance timely access to quality services and infuse local economies. Reestablishing essential medical services in the greater Riverton area will improve health outcomes and wellness for individuals and families. Ultimately, it will bolster quality of life for all residents. I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve with such a talented and committed team in Riverton and for the support of Billings Clinic. Together we will fully animate RiverPeak Health’s mission and revitalize local healthcare.”

RiverPeak Health is thrilled to announce that Dr. Peter McCullough has officially joined our Medical Staff, becoming our very first physician as we prepare to open our doors to the Riverton community. This is a foundational milestone, and we could not be more excited to welcome a physician whose training, experience, and heart for rural medicine align so powerfully with our mission. Dr. McCullough is currently completing his Family Medicine/Obstetrics (FM/OB) residency at Via Christi Family Medicine in Wichita, Kansas, with full-spectrum Family Medicine training and advanced obstetrical and surgical OB experience. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine through the Wyoming TRUST pathway of the WWAMI program. He completed his undergraduate studies at Wyoming Catholic College in Lander and later earned a degree in Biology with a Minor in Chemistry from Franciscan University of Steubenville. Before entering medicine, Dr. McCullough served in engineering leadership roles in the energy sector and worked as an Abuse and Neglect Investigator in Wyoming, reflecting a long-standing commitment to service and accountability. With deep Wyoming ties, he has completed extensive wilderness leadership training through NOLS, holds a Wilderness EMT certification, and continues to serve by teaching “Stop the Bleed,” volunteering in search and rescue, mentoring future medical students, and supporting underserved families. Outside of medicine, he enjoys hunting, backpacking, climbing, and mountaineering and is currently working toward his private pilot’s license. We are proud to welcome Dr. Peter McCullough to RiverPeak Health and look forward to the care he will provide to the Riverton community. Please join us in welcoming him!
